Hey there!
Great to see you here. Thank you for joining me to learn more about living a healthy life and online writing. Let me introduce myself:
I’m Hussein – some friends call me Hussi, so feel free to choose 😊
I have a Master’s in Medical Engineering and a PhD in AI & Data Science for Healthcare. After my PhD, I decided to follow my passion to become an online writer to share my knowledge with you.
In this newsletter, I will:
make complex science practical and easy to help you live a healthier (nutrition, exercise, sleep, mental health, and many more) and more peaceful life (without chasing happiness)
share how to write online (especially how to transition from academic to online writing)
help to find your identity when you grow up in multiple cultures (I was born in Iraq but grew up in Germany. As you might imagine this came along with maaaany challenges.)

Why those topics?
Well, this is a deeply personal matter which I want to share with you here.
Me 5 years ago:
Poor sleep
Depressed
Morbidly obese
Binge-eating disorder 🍔🍟🍕
Ate kiwis with the skin on 🥝😄
Health issues: chronic back pain, fatigue, and shortness of breath
I knew:
If I don’t change something, I’ll destroy myself. Mental health, nutrition, and exercise were not even in my vocabulary. So, I started reading about these topics.
Science-based books are often dry, dense, and complicated. I’m a scientist - specialized in healthcare applications. That helped me to understand faster.
I’ve read 100+ books, listened to 1000s of hours of podcasts, and watched countless YouTube videos.
(And I’m not even counting in cute dog compilations or travel vlogs)
I took notes and journaled my progress. I studied for the most important exam of my life. I studied to turn my life around. So, I started to apply the concepts I studied.
Me today:
No binge-eating
Improved mental health
Better sleep (8h instead of 4-6)
Lost over 30 kg (a.k.a. lots of lbs)
Back pain gone, energy levels high, no breathing issues
I still eat kiwis with the skin on, though. 🥝
Nobody’s perfect, right?
I didn’t just David Goggins’ my way through this.
(Though, I still thank him every day for yelling at me through my phone screen)
I studied science-based tools and made them part of my everyday life. It may sound cheesy, but: Science saved me.
My Goal
Science is often seen as difficult, dense, and boring. That's because we've made it that way. But it doesn't have to be. Science is like a language. You either express yourself in a way that's hard to understand, stiff, and abstract. Or you make it easy to follow, entertaining, and practical. This is why I’m here:
I make complex science practical and easy to help you live a healthier life.

You see, my online business is not just my passion. It’s a reflection of my life and who I am. And I’m beyond grateful that you’ve joined me for this newsletter.
